Paithan — ancient Pratishthana on the banks of the Godavari — gave the world one of its most enduring textiles. The Paithani saree has been woven here for over two thousand years, each one a meditation on patience and mastery.

Kulswamini began as a quiet resolve — to honour this tradition without freezing it in time. Every saree is woven on a handloom; every motif, the peacock, the lotus, the parrot, is placed by a weaver who has spent years learning its grammar. No shortcuts. No approximations.
The Founder
She learned to weave
before she learned to read.
Shweta Bobde inherited the loom from her mother, who inherited it from hers. Three generations of women who understood that a saree is not a garment — it is a message in silk, written for the woman who will one day wear it.

The Design
Motifs are drawn from the archive of patterns the maison has kept for decades. Each peacock and lotus is placed before the loom is ever set.

Our weavers are not employees. They are co-authors. Each one carries a knowledge that no school teaches — the grammar of the loom, the tension of the silk, the rhythm that turns thread into a peacock tail.
We work with 14 master weavers from the Nathpanth community of Yeola and Paithan. Each family has been weaving for at least three generations. We ensure fair compensation, consistent work, and full credit — every saree carries the name of the weaver who made it.
The Four Months
Silk Preparation
Raw silk degummed and dyed in Paithan waters.
Zari Threading
Real gold flattened into wire, then wound onto silk.
Loom Setting
5,000 warp threads set by hand before a single pass.
Motif Weaving
Each peacock takes a week. No pattern repeat. Ever.

Every saree by hand
We have never used a power loom. We never will. The handloom is not a constraint — it is the point.

Real gold, always
Our zari is tested to 23.7% gold content. If we cannot source authentic zari, we do not weave that collection.

Every Kulswamini saree ships with a card bearing the weaver's name and studio. You know who made yours.
